Project: Raid your boyfriend’s wardrobe!

7 Oct

In my case, lucky me, boyfriend = husband; and wardrobe = his entire menswear (customized womenswear) label, VASTRALAB by Sandeep Kumar located in Shahpurjat, Delhi.

In these difficult times of recession and economic slow down, why shop for new things? Just raid your man’s closet, and have fun being creative while you reinvent some menswear garments into trendy womenswear. Borrow shirts/waistcoats/jackets/ and basically anything you think you can carry off and give it an absolute carefree feminine twist 😉

Look 1:
Borrow quirky retro print shirt for men, mismatch it with printed pants and cinch in the waist with a thin belt, clubbing it with a cool bandana, platform heels and futuristic sunglasses to create a fun eccentric look

Here I am wearing:

Telephone and taxi print men’s shirt (Vastralab); Printed crepe pants (customized for me at Vastralab); White rope belt (Forever 21 ); Bandana worn as knotted head band ( Nikasha); Silver retro futuristic sunglasses and platform heels (both from Zara)

Look 2:
Pick your man’s formal Bandhgala waistcoat for an uptight look which is fun yet formal. Just tighten it by overlaying the buttoned part and create a feminine shape with a thick leather belt cinching the waist. Club it with patterned stockings and loafers.

Here I am wearing:

Charcoal grey Bandhgala waistcoat (Vastralab); Polka dot stockings (china flea market) ; Studded loafers, (Zara); Metal chip wrist-band (Anaikka); Leather belt (Forever New)

Look 3:
Go retro while you get yourself your man’s linen white jacket to make it a chic 80’s style broad shouldered blazer and club it with a 50’s style polka dot full-circled dress. Accessorize with some classic pearl string and cat eye glasses to complete the retro look.

Here I am wearing:

White linen jacket (Vastralab); Halter neck polka dot dress (customized at Vastralab); Pearl necklace (accessorize) ; Queen Elizabeth inscribed ear studs (china flea market)

Look 4:
Mix street style with slick men’s tailoring to create your own unique style. Club a man’s formal satin collar jacket, with a crepe side-slit straight-cut skirt and make the outfit buzzing by adding street-stopping neons in cropped sporty top, sneakers and accessories.

Here I am wearing:

Black formal blazer for men (Vastralab); Black side-slit skirt (customized for me at Vastralab); Neon cropped top (Adidas); Neon green polka dot sneakers (picked up on streets of Thailand); Lots of neon bangles (Delhi Haat); Spiky Headband (Aldo accessories); Sunglasses (Zara)
